Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51 million viewers in the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game series averaged 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise over the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different languages.
